Distributor installation?
I have a stock 1975 Corolla, complete with the emissions stuff still installed. On this 2T-C engine, the timing is set for 10 BTC. I was wondering, when putting the distributor back in, should the engine be set at 0 BTC, or 10 BTC? My neighbor thinks whoever worked on this car eons ago, has it put i...

Re: Spark plugs?
The autolite 13s are with a 0.460 in. reach, while the plugs for the stock engine are with the longer .750 in. reach. Use the longer plugs in your stock engine. The 13s are for a racing engine, and have no resistor, while stock spark plugs have the resistor on them. If you plan to stick with Autolit...

Re: Spark plugs?
According to the various repair manuals I have from Toyota themselves, the 2T-C amd 3T-C engines came with: W16EX - U,W16EP (ND [Nippon Denso] BP5EA - L,BP5WA - L (NGK) You can see a list of replacements for BP5EA see here: http://www.sparkplug-crossreference.com/convert/NGK_PN/BP5EA-L-11 Gap should...

Is the brake fluid/transmission fluid deal the same as using seamfoam on the engine?

Engine position when removing/installing distributor
Before removing or reinstalling the distributor, do I set the engine to TDC, or to 10 degrees BTDC? I am thinking it should be at 10 degrees BTDC, but would like to verify. Thanks!
BTW, this is on a stock 1975 2T-C Corolla.

Re: O2 sensor question
I think the O2 sensors tie to the Emissions box on these cars. They are a primitive sort of computer, but not really. I know for the '75 Corolla, it doesn't have an O2 sensor, but it does have a temperature sensor in the catalytic converter. This sensor goes to the emissions control box. The emissio...

Lifter positions?
When putting the mecanical lifters back into the engine, is there a certain position that the holes should be lined up? Like, would the bottom hole be aimed towards the center of the engine, or to the rear or to the front or what? The holes are on opposite sides to each other. I did not notice the o...

Re: Timing time need help
I could be wrong but I don't believe you disconnect the hoses to do the timing, just set it to 10 degrees BTC. In the manual from Toyota itself. It then says to disconnect the hose (it just mentions one, my manual is from June 1978, before there were 2 vacuum connections), and you should notice the ...

Re: shaving a 3tc head for more compression = hp
Use a feeler gauge for .05 (I could be wrong, but I don't think he meant .5, since that would be 1/2 of an inch). Spark plug gaps are around .031 or so.
