Re: Full Wiring Diagrams

This site might give you the answer you are looking for: http://teae.org/sunbeam-tachometers/ It seems to show how to install in both Positive and negative ground engines. Looks like the Alpine is a English car using positive ground, so you've have to reverse the guts for it to work. I think. Hope t...

Re: 1972 te27 exhaust?

Yup, that's a resonator. The first usage of a catalytic converter was for the 1975 TE31 Corollas in California (TE31s outside california didn't have them). Pre-75 has no cat.

Re: Carburetor choke adjustment

Regarding carb spray: You spray that down the 2 nozzles on the top of the carb. Spray it while the car is warm but not hot and you made have to push the cam to keep the car from dying as you spray it. Regarding the idle screw, you wrote, "so i turned the idle mixture screw clockwise all the way&...

Re: Head Gasket sealant?

Ok, thanks! Ordered some of the spray online, should get it Friday. I also bought new studs for the Exhaust. The people who previously worked on the car did not put the studs back, but used a mish-mash of bolts of various sizes. So I'll replace those with the proper exhaust studs and I think I shoul...

Head Gasket sealant?

I am changing out the head gasket on my '75 Corolla with 2T-C engine. Is there a sealant or RTV too be added with the gasket? My friend has mentioned some sort of sealant his dad has from years ago, dunno what it is. I have looked online, but have only found the stuff like Permatex Copper, that is n...

Re: The Golf Ball shaped pistons in 2TC

I have a 1975 TE31 with a 2T-C engine from California. It has the Golfball pistons. They are indeed 9.0:1 compression. Piston.JPG The people who previously worked on the engine did a terrible job. It looked like they used a wire brush to clear the gasket before and made a right mess of it. As a resu...

Re: Head Gasket replacement on 2TC?

Ok, I put it at TDC, and have removed the exhaust manifold. I still need to know if it's ok to leave the intake manifold on, as long as I remove everything from it. I can't access the nuts on it's underside because the hoses for the A/C is blocking access. I figure if I can, then I can remove them t...

Re: Head Gasket replacement on 2TC?

Ok, ran into a problem. The hoses for the air conditioner blocks access to the bottom nuts on the intake manifold. So now my question is: Can I just remove what's on the intake manifold (carb and hoses), and once I unbolt the head and exhaust manifold, just lift the head with the intake manifold sti...

Re: Head Gasket replacement on 2TC?

Great, thanks! I had recently rebuilt the carb (first time I ever did that!), and changed the vac lines. When I did that, I used the Emissions Control manual to make sure the vac lines were hooked up correctly, and I made sure to label them at that time. The factory service manuals are WAY better th...

Head Gasket replacement on 2TC?

I have a stock 1975 TE31 Corolla that has a bad head gasket. Can someone let me know if these are the correct steps for changing it? 1. Dump Radiator fluid. 2. Remove valve cover. 3. Remove vacuum lines to carb. 4. Remove carb. 5. Remove intake manifold (unbolt bolts in order shown in manual) 6. Rem...
