Oh I remember them well... I was dating someone back in the early 90's. Her dad got hear a BMW 325I. I lowered her car using these clamps, the problem was the bolts are only long enough to clamp one coil which barely lowered the car. So I thought buy longer bolts! So after getting some at a local hardware store, I went ahead and clamped down the springs! I got the her car nice and low, but the excess bolts were sticking way down and in the way of the spring. I got the hack saw out and cut it flush with the retaining nuts of the clamps. Her dad came home and flipped! He told me to undo what I just did...No here is where there was a problem... since I cut the excess part of the bolts and now have 3 coils clamped, I do not have a way to get them off safely. So I just started slowly taking the the nuts off. then on the last few treads....POW! PING! PONG!...the clamp, bolt, nut, started flying everywhere inside the fender well! That was scary...now I still have 3 more coil spring to go  Lesson learned. I never did that again :D

not quite the 90s, for me it was the late 1970s, and I used these on my Volvo springs because it sagged a bit
