camber issue

Postby 1.8te27 on Wed Mar 28, 2012 11:40 am

Hey guys I have a 74 sr5 Corolla with T3 coilovers, rca's, and camber plates. The issue I'm having is that when both wheels are adjusted with the same amount of camber, the plates are in different positions and when the plates are adjusted the exact same one wheel has more camber than the other. How do I go about fixing this?

You could try un-bending your chassis.... Seriously though, unless your lower control arm bushings are really worn out something is bent. I would start measuring stuff under there until you find out what is off.

Thats what I figured. How do I tell if my lower control arm bushings are bad?

Get your wheels off the ground, crawl under there and look at them. Try pushing them around and see if they have slop but it might be hard to tell with your struts still connected and putting pressure on them. Are your struts old? I bought my e30 with blown struts and the rod had all kinds of slop in it. I could push on the top of the wheel and watch the camber change.

New MR2 struts up front. Did the short stroke coilover setup. Never replaced LCA ball joint. The car has also never been wrecked and as long as I've been driving it I haven't jumped it or anything stupid like that. Hopefully its the LCA.

how much difference is the camber when both plates are in the same position?

did you replace your wheel bearings? you might also want to check the actual angle of each spindles. Also, if you did the short stroke conversion (cut and welded the struts), there's a possibility of them being crooked that would affect the actual camber.

nevertheless, it comes with the car's age. that's why we update parts like camber plates to correct those tiny differences.
