Hello from an old friend

Post by Yotarip »

Hey guys,
It's been a while. I joined toyota3tc.com back when it first came to be. Enjoyed the forum and met many people on the east coast who were members. I've owned many oldschool corrollas over the years and sold most of them.

Now I'm down to just my 81 te72 wagon.

The 3tc was my favorite platform because they lasted forever and were plentiful in my local junkyards. Now the 3tc is rare but luckily the 1uz is plentiful and just as reliable. I've completed a couple of 1uz swaps in my current fleet.

The wagon will get a 1uz/58 this spring. I will start a build thread when the work begins.

Yeah. I'm strictly toyota. Even conditioned my wife to the Toyota only mindset. I've bought her a celica, rav4 and avalon. Bought her son 2 camrys. Daughter will get a late model corolla when 16.

Can't wait to start the 1uz corola but I need to start and finish my v6 1mzfe MR2 swap this winter.

I used to be scared of efi swaps but now I wouldn't have it any other way.

Yeah,
Maintenance on the MR2 sucks.
This swap should go pretty easy since there will be minimal fabrication. The turbo trans in these MR2's are the same 5 speed trans used in the V6 camry's so it's a bolt on deal. I will only have to fab up one mount and the exhaust. Will do all the needed maintennce work on the V6 before I put it in. Will also buy a brand new alternator from Toyota for the swap. Alternator work is hard enough with the 4 cylinders in these cars.

What bellhousing are you using with the w58 to the 1uz? You getting the ones they sell on ebay?
