1982 Celica ST

Post by Keja00 »

Hi all !

So, let me introduce myself.
I'm a 21yo frenchman who lives in France (obviously).
My toyota addiction started around 2 years ago, when I met a friend who owns 3 of them at the moment (2 tercel 4wd, and a Levin 86). I've checked different models for my first car, and I've been hesitating between 3 models: AE92 Corolla, T16 Celica, and TA60.
I bought my Celica only a couple days after finding it. (for 950€, which is ~1300$)

More about my daily driver

Year: 1982
Model: TA60 ST
Engine: 2TB
miles: 100k
It comes with brown interior, cream colored seats, a removable sunroof, and a "black rear" (I don't know how to say it otherwise)
And according to the VIN, it's the 4300ish made

Pictures time:
(here's what I mean by "black rear"

How it looks today:

Mods so far:
Painted Steelies (13")
US format registration plate & plate holder
Home made muffler (AE86 resonator)

Coming next:
85 Celica front bumper & lip (painted in black)
A set of SSR mesh 15x6.5"

And nothing done to the engine (yet). And that's why I registered. Without wanting to drag race or having a 200hp+ car, A few more horsepowers would be welcomed. It's an unknown car over here, so there's nothing 2tb related, whatsoever.
Engine mods aren't for today, but there's no harm getting informations. ;)

So, what i've read/heard to get some more ponies:
>Bigger carburetors (such as Webber DCOE 40)
>Megajolt ingnition timing
>3TC inox exhaust manifold and full inox exhaust
And that's about it. The thing is: I'm not rich. And I can't inverst 1500$/€ into mods.
That's why i'm also considering a swap:
4AGE, but finding the rights parts to do it is a Nightmare in france: AA63 motor mounts, AE86 gearbox...

And that's all for that long post.

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks :)

@Toyota1515: the problem is, the 3TC is nowhere to be found in france, and performance parts as well.

@Toyota1515, no problem mate. I'll find a way to stay toyota, haha

@Boblook, tha 4age seems to be the wisest choice here: 4a are easy to find (but they're a bit pricey), motor mounts can be taken from an AA63 Celica, the gearbox is almost exactly identical. ;)

But, I like the 2tb too much. I don't know why. Maybe because it's an entire part of the car, and a 4age doesn't fit the spirit of the car, in my opinion. :ugeek:

That's why, over the time, i'll certainly choose the 2TB upgrade option. And as the dollar is inferior to the €, importing parts is interesting.
To begin with (correct me if I say anything stupid, which often happens  ):

>Stainless steel 3TC exhaust manifold + exhaust
>Double valve spring

My question is, what other mods would these imply ? Is there anything i'm missing ?
