Starting my TE72 Liftback project in Alaska

Post by QuasiAk »

Hey everyone, I'm from Fairbanks, Alaska and just picked up a 1981 Corolla Liftback for $600. The motor is strong and runs awesome as well as the gear box. The interior will need a bit of attention as most cars at this age will. I have found that sourcing parts for this car is proving to be quite difficult. That being said, I plan on persevering. Some research I've done has given me some awesome info such as finding out that the seats from a MKII mr2 will fit with minor modification to the rails (drilling an extra hole) and the seats from an AE86 are a direct fit. Also with some modification to the fenders, it is possible to use the front bumper from an AE86 Levin which I'm super excited about. I'm not going to go to crazy with motor swaps or builder the existing motor. Possibly a new OBX header and full piped exhaust, and an upgraded carb. Also suspension upgrades will be a must.

I got this car to be my daily driver and something fun to work and learn on while my Evo X is out of town getting its motor upgraded and built. Here in Alaska we have some auto-x and snow track events and what better vehicle to use and have fun with than this beauty! I'm stoked for this project and the journey that it will bring. I've definitely got my work cut out for me, so any help and far as sourcing parts and any other help along the way will be greatly appreciated! I'll be posting updates periodically. Thanks guys!

I'm wanting to get something combining the looks of all the photos here. Some minor engine work and upgrading as most my funds are going towards my Evo X. I'm wanting to have a levin front bumper, aftermarket fender flares, fender mirrors, and still retain te rectangle headlights.
