It can be done but it involve some electrical knowledge diagram reading and understandment of it. True year the wires use to corrode sockets fusebox connection use melts and burn. I'll say if wire is fine leave it ;)

I REWIRE SOME CARS AND IS A LOT OF LABOR , IF YOU ARE RESTORING THE CAR COMPLETELY OR IS A GROUND UP REBUILD IS OK . IF YOUR CAR IS WORKING IS EASIER TO CHANGE THE BROKEN ENDS AND UPGRADE THE WIRES THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED . I WILL START WITH THE CHARGING AND THE BLOWER - A/C WIRES . THE PAINLESS USES THE SIGNAL LIGHT SWITCH , WIPER SWITCH , LIGHT SWITCHES FROM GM AND ALL THAT GOT TO BE CHANGED IN YOUR CAR . DIFFICULT BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

Been done before, I have. The difficult thing to do are sorting out the lighting switches, high/low beam and signal lights (had a buddy who is an expert in electricals sort that out for me). Make sure to read the Toyota manual and understand what wire is connected to what, understand it one wire at a time or you will get overwhelmed. There's a lot of wiring builds online that you may look at.

Check EVERY wire you retain for its overall condition, and if not ideal... find a proper replacement!

Why do I say that????? Note the blue wire...

That is one of the TPS wires. Even with a full rewire, sometimes some of the original wires need to be retained (dash cluster, tail lamp sockets, and in my case TPS) Well, The TPS wire broke stranding me on one of the bridges here in Portland(Ross Island bridge).

A tow later...

Found out the following day that the TPS clip and pigtails were just too old... the wire broke between shifts and I got stuck. When I originally decided on the rounded corner TPS, I did so because I knew the 1UZ(LS400) used the same TPS. I had planned this because I thought I'd have access to TPS replacements for a long time... little did I know then that my choice allowed me to find a new clip and pigtails that were not old and brittle

A funny experience more then 15 years ago when i was working in a garage ! This old men towed his datsun bluebirth to us ask us if we could help him finish his work he started on his car. He said few wire has burn in the engine bay so he decide himself to cut the wireloom deep in the firewall . He brought ad the yunkyard a used wireloom cut on the same place from another same car and started to connect the wires color to color with terminal blocks :? He got stuck when he realize theyre was more then one of the same color wires few colors didnt match together:lol:     Poor old men   it toke me few days to figure out which wire goes to which soldering and heat-shrin the wires and car ran agian. Only one warning bulb in the cluster i coulndt figur out wat for it was probably do the short circuit an diode in the cluster blew. The man was more then happy the bulb didnt bother him. So it is possible if you know what your doing ;)
