Hi Gentlemen,
After relatively successfully installing my 32/36 over the weekend, I no longer have a place to put on my economy gauge.
Since I do want to keep it in use if possible, what would be a good place to get a reading?
Can I tee in the distributor vacuum line or is that a bad idea?
your thoughts please!
good place to get vacuum from weber 32/36 (for gauge)

No one?
Just wondering if it's a bad idea to tee off from the distributor vacuum

An economy gauge works with vacuum? I had to find out what that was, maybe nobody uses that with these cars. I didnt even know what that was! Why not get an air fuel meter gauge? Maybe you can tell us how does that economy gauge works, then maybe somebody can help you. However I would advice not to experiment with timing components on these old cars. If an economy gauge its supposed to do what I think its supposed to do, why did you install a weber?

Ha! Good response
The economy gauge is a vacuum gauge integrated in my dash (top left)
Indeed I don't care much about economy, but I do like to have everything in my dash to work.
I had my doubts as well about splicing into the timing line.
So with the weber, what else would be a good place to get a vacuum 'signal' from?

If you just replaced a stock carb for the weber you had like 150 lines to hook it up to! Anything in the manifold should work if its just for the vacuum. You dont have anythiong in the manifold you plugged up that you can use? I know 3tc has a threaded tube on the side right next to the carb you can use. What engine and car do you have?
Let me ask you this, was it hooked up to the carb before? Maybe take a picture of the line you need hooked up and the engine intake side. I can think of two options but want to know where it was first and what the solution might be.

Well, I've actually swapped manifolds as well. Though it is an original one.
Engine is a European 2T from '82.
Vacuum from the original carb came from one if the tubes on the passenger side of the carb.
I'll check the carb, but it's in storage now, so will take a few days.

Can't you tee the line that goes from the intake to the power brake booster?that will give you the vaccum reading you want..

I was actually thinking of that while I was in bed yesterday.
Will try over the weekend!
