Post by bombapinoy »

Hi guys! New to the forum here. Anyways I want a LSD in my TE72 coupe and was told that I cam put in a ae86 diff with some modification. I don't want to weld me diff in case I have to put everything back to stock, what are my options?

You can put a complete ae86 rear end in, disc to disc. it bolts in.

ae86 6.7" diff will bolt in.

you also need the handbrake cables to suit disk brake. from jdm te71 levin/trueno/GT. not sure if ae86 ones have the same attachment at the handbrake?

If you have a 2 piece driveshaft, the rear half is too long if you originally had a smaller diff. the 6" and 6.38" diff has a smaller spigot to locate the rear shaft yolk so can't just shorten the shaft.. you'd have to use an adapter in between the shaft and diff flange so it stays concentric. easier to use the correct shaft. I can't confirm if ae86 shaft will be correct length or bolt onto the original te72 front half? A te71/te72 shaft that originally had a 6.7" diff will be perfect. double check it has the correct spline yolk at the front because there's either 20 or 22spline for a T50 5speed.
