Battery/alternator question

Post by totorote27 »

What's the best way to determine if a battery is no good or the alternator is no good?

Disconnect the battery with the car on. If it dies, then the alternator is bad.

Best way i know is get a hydrometer pop the covers check the acid and test for spacific gravity if they are low in acid add distilled water and charge for 4-8 hours on low charge then test batter again for specific gravity if bad the that means that there is a problem in the cells but if good after charge then do a load test with the load tester in the first pic then connect it all up to your car and turn on the car with the clamp put that over the wire going to the positive and switch your multimeter to amps and your posts also if it reads that there are amps going through then you are good also for voltage draw at the positive cable it should be 0.00v to 0.04 anything above and you got a problem somewhere. That is how you check to see if all is well also make sure you belt is good and snug
