Distributor upgrade question

Post by skellington »

My 76 is set up with a point’s style distributor. If I have an electronic distributor that will bolt in, will I have to change anything else out?
-Have 1976 TE31, new distributor is from 3tc 1983.

You can use the electronic, you need also the ignition module( igniter) and coil for the wiring not a big deal the diagram show how to connect the igniter

It's a lot easier if you get the electronic dizzy and ignitor out of the same car so you know they match up. That's what I did and it was a 20 minute process to install.

A lot of those are dual point which is just double the headache. Stock electronic with upgraded ignition is fine for most people. Set it once and done.
If you do happen to find the electronic ones then you better also stock up on cap and rotors.
