te72 charging system need help
Just bought a 82 sr5 te72. It's an electrical mess and i'm having issues with the charging system. I got the alternator tested and it was bad. but the wiring as been messed up before i got it.
B- wire directly from battery to alt. constant 12v
IG- connects to ignition switch, i dont know which color wire this shcould be??
S-i'm going to route it back to B coming from the battery
L- charge lamp n choke i have a blue wire connected to the blue wire on the relay by the driver side strut tower?? not sure if this is right either.
there is a round green plug with about 6 wires on it can someone please tell me where each wire is connected to i believe the ignition sw wire is black/yellow and it's on this plug
and can someone help me wire up the voltage regulator not sure which wires need to be wired to what on the voltage regulator.
sorry for asking for so much but my car is really an electrical mess. I need the car to get to school. any help or info is greatly appreciated

Re: te72 charging system need help
So did you buy another alternator ?
Sound okay but if you have an external regulator you missed the F field
I think the previous owner probably have swap the external regulator alt for internal
I suggest if you don't have to much experience with wires to stick with the internal alt as it is easy to wire only 3 wires will make it work
L light
IG ignition
B battery

Re: te72 charging system need help
update 1982 te72 corolla wiring colors and location
4wire internal regulator bought from autozone 60$
B terminal- battery+ terminal to B on the alternator
S- is another source coming from the battery with constant 12v this is a sensor wire which is used to maintain a certain voltage. (connects to battery + terminal)
L- connects to charge lamp circuit so your indicator in the cabin will tell you if the alternator is charging or not.
it's located by the igniter there is a round green plug with a yellow wire. the wires on the opposite end go toward the carburetor.
IG- connects to a black wire with yellow stripes located at the ignition switch. take the cover off the steering column the black yellow should be the soldered connection towards the top while facing you.
hope this helps i've been troubleshooting 3days now with this
