is a fuel return really needed for dual 45dcoe
I am in the process of getting ready to install my 3tc slightly modded eng. And I will be running dual 45DCOE. I was looking at the fuel lines on my car "TE27" and was wondering, Should I remove all 3 lines that are there and just run a single 3/8 line. Or run a return line 1/4 also. Or should I just leave the 1 stock supply line?

What fuel pump are you using? I'm assuming you're going to upgrade to an electric pump?

Either the holley red or the carter fuel pump....

While I'm not an expert, I would suspect that as long as you have a regulator to keep the pressure within tolerable range, you could do without a fuel return. If you were using a mechanical pump you'd probably want one, unless you started having low pressure issues.

But how is the regulator going to know if your idle or WOT? I would imagine no return line can cause issues unless you have something else telling the pump how much fuel to pump.

You most run return when using fpr and electrical fuel pump.
By the way i don't know about any 2 ways fpr all are 3 way

Ah so I was wrong. So when you set your regulator, do you set it to the volume required by the carbs at WOT? Then the return line is just to send back whatever is not used at anything below WOT correct?

Required for the carb, the regulator won't know anything in the WOT term only make its work by regulating the pressure to desire psi.Spudenater wrote:Ah so I was wrong. For carb pressure drop you can install an boost voltage

holley red fuel pump + holley fuel reg. + fuel gauge and set it to 4 pounds that's it turn it on and go have fun

Fuel return is a must in every car using any type of fuel system, for many reasons...
1- Cooler fuel to the carb, cooler fuel in the carb means more efficient and powerful combustion meaning more power, the fuel stopped by the carb floats tend to run hotter than all the time flowing fuel.
2- Longer life to any fuel pump mechanical or electric, cuz when fuel is stopped by carb float stress any pump
3- Less Air pockets in the fuel system, that prevent starvation and hiccups in any engine (And better if using a surge tank) cuz it eliminate the air pockets in a 100%
