hey guys
so here's the problem im having
i had the stock carb with all the emissions crap
car wouldnt idle. sputtered and died. i could get it to idle if i raised idle to around 1500-1700rpm but it would still sputter. it would immediately dies if i went past 3k then let off gas
decided to remove the stock aisan since it has 40 million vacuum lines going to 40 million different ports
installed a brand new weber 32/36
car does the same thing
if i tune to idle around 850rpm the car sputters and dies
RPMS jump between 200rpms up/down
when i hit the pedal, the car hesitates as if it's not getting fuel then eventually itll pick up rpms again
when driving around above 2500rpm, the car drives fine. drives great actually.
its only when i let off throttle and get back on it that itll hesitate a little but if i smash the pedal doesnt hesitate at all
plugs/wires all new
couldnt find any vacuum leaks yet
timing has never been touched. picked up a timing gun and will be checking it as soon as i can
also picked up some new vacuum hoses to replace the old ones
the car does get fuel when cranking.
any idea on what it could be?
engine compression tests at 150/140/150/140 cylinder 1-4 respectively
valve seals are leaky
not sure if leaky valve seals would case such a major issue like this.
everything else overall seems fine
im completely stumped

i figured it out
there was a vacuum leak between the breather plate under the carb adapter and the manifold
removed the breather plate, cut the studs shorter to fit, throw a filter on the valve cover breather and as of now i have it idling around 900rpm without accessories
stumbles a little bit in 2nd gear between 2k and 3k rpm if i dont give it enough throttle but it's no big deal. just gotta tune a bit more
