O2 sensor question
I'm new to corollas and 3tc's and I'm building mine to be a cool daily driver I'm putting a header I'm having a muffler shop do the rest of the exhaust to a muffler to the back but my question is does anyone delete their o2 sensors? This is a 82 corolla sedan so it have the one on the manifold and other underneath the car after the cat and I will not be putting another cat on
Re: O2 sensor question
I always delete mine. There is no computer so Im not sure what they are there for in the first place.

Re: O2 sensor question
Well that's definitely odd but thanks so I'll just cut and clean that all up
Re: O2 sensor question
How dare you guys! The corollas do have a computer! Now..... what do they do? Anyways, not having an o2 sensor....... how are you going to tune the engine?

Re: O2 sensor question
yeap they do have a computer, it is called SCREWDRIVER and it interface from my hand thru my head into my brain, a little slow cuz it is just a 1/100000 of a bit processor but it works perfect all the time!

Re: O2 sensor question
Weber carb and timing that's about it I guess
Re: O2 sensor question
I think the O2 sensors tie to the Emissions box on these cars. They are a primitive sort of computer, but not really.
I know for the '75 Corolla, it doesn't have an O2 sensor, but it does have a temperature sensor in the catalytic converter. This sensor goes to the emissions control box. The emissions control box on the '75 (I think '75-80 at least), basically opened/closed the vac lines on the carb via the vacuum box that sits on the inside passenger fender.
So, it won't kill the car, and if you already have the Aisan carb swapped out or the vac lines blocked, then the sensors aren't in use.
Since you aren't installing a new cat, that also means no need for the O2 sensors.
I suspect the O2 sensors are set up exactly the same way on the '82 as for the 1975-1980 Corollas.
