Charge light on. Car runs fine but dies when braking.

My 80 sr5 coupe has charge light that's on and I don't know if it's a bad alternator because it's started up fine and drove okay. But the day, I went to start it and nothing. Pulled battery and put it on a charger(35min) and cleaned my ground spot.. Fired right up.. Still a charge light. As well as my brake light stuck on.. I noticed a sound coming from the rear driver side wheel like it wa rubbin metal on metal. Any help?? Need to get this going SOON!

Common for brake light to be on when alt. goes bad. Check for 14.5 volts when running and 12.5 when off with voltmeter.
The sound from the back is another problem, possibly worn brake shoes.
