using N/A engine you need to be able to rev it hard! like the red starlet in this vid (4ag on bike carbs)

A free revving and balanced engine will assist you.
drifting requires a reliable setup. It is a big pain if you're constantly retuning carbs, or snapping axles or breaking gearboxes etc.
On an n/a setup, a lightened flywheel will help with throttle response because you'll be clutch kicking it alot, you'll need a heavy duty clutch pressure plate (puck clutch not the best for low speed skids), and do all the usual things to get more power.
Locker or 2way is the best for the diff.
I started out with a stock 2tgeu, t50 and 6.7" locker. which was good enough to learn weight shifting to continue the drift and low speed cone work, but was underpowered for anything above 2nd gear. Using a locked 6.7" will eventually snap axles due to tramping and wear on the splines.
I'm drifting with a 3t-gte now. using a modified T28 from nissan skyline r33 GTR on 14psi through a pulsar GTiR intercooler front mounted. w57 gearbox and 7.5" ma46 diff with altezza kaaz 2way lsd. ae86 BC BR coilovers all round. Has been very reliable with the supra drivetrain and goes well enough to keep up with mild nissans.
