The above link gives me :
This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.

I am logged in and am trying to wire a '61 Sunbeam tach to a 3tc engine.
The Sunbeam electrical shows B+ from ignition switch looping thru tach pickup to coil B+.
Could the spare wire from the igniter (next to B+) loop thru the tach to ground?

Don't know what happen to that link !

Tack signal is always measure on the B- side !

Yes you can get the tack output signal out of the igniter

The tach uses 2 loops of wire forming the primary induction signal input to the transformer.
Could I use the igniter wire to the tach loops to ground, or would that kill the system?
Or put the loops in series to the coil - ? (Would need 2 long runs of wire, coil- to tach loop & back to wires that went to coil-)

I haven't found any electrical diagrams showing tachometer connections. Any leads?

Here an ae86 ignition diagram work the same ! You can see in the igniter diagram how the coil negative is bypassed true the igniter and have its separate socket. Forget about the service connector.

We wouldn't know how the tach was hooked to the "61 Sunbeam" therefore you will have to look in the stock oem Sunbeam wire diagram how its connected so we can tell you.

Not sure what you call the transformer :!: :?:  picture?

any Sunbeam electrical diagram ?

The top left schematic is the loop shown on the tach.img.

This shows how it's wired in an Alpine engine (sw is +)

This site might give you the answer you are looking for:

http://teae.org/sunbeam-tachometers/

It seems to show how to install in both Positive and negative ground engines. Looks like the Alpine is a English car using positive ground, so you've have to reverse the guts for it to work. I think.

Hope that is of some help.

Yeah you will need to covert to Negative in order for it to work on the 3TC ignition ;)

The link show how to do this modification
