Alternator wiring.

Hey guys,

I bought an engine that I'm swapping into my AE86 and I need some help wiring up the alternator. I have 2 different ones. One has a 2 pin connector and the other has 3 pins. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

The 3 pin look like an external regulator alt

The 2 pin intern regulator

1* which one do you want to use on youre 86 ? the pin 2 ?

The 2 pin alternator is what is currently installed.

On the 2 pin alt is there an letter stamped near the plug ??

L or IG or S ?

Thats going backwards ! You will need to ad extra few wires so it can connect to the external regulator

If you know what's stamped on the alt i will guide you to make it work.

Ah, I assumed that 3 pins would have been more up to date than a 2 pin. I'll pull it out tonight and take a picture.

You learn fast check the wire diagram upper is external lower internal regulator

I found the stamping on the alternator, L and IC.
